  3. GENETIC DRIFT SYNDROME:

  5. Genetic Drift Syndrome (GDS) is         
  6. characterized by an almost subliminal   
  7. slowing of neural relay time. This phase
  8. can last from six months to several     
  9. years, and may not appear in the early  
  10. stages even with the most sensitive     
  11. diagnostic techniques, although         
  12. acetylcholine transmission tomography   
  13. may indicate some deviation from the    
  14. norm (measured in microseconds). Later  
  15. the slowing becomes more noticeable, and
  16. eventually almost all motor activity    
  17. stops. Treatment includes biochemical   
  18. stimulus of the reticular activating    
  19. system, various nutrient-grown organ    
  20. replacements and finally full           
  21. life-support and longevity treatment. It
  22. might be noted that there is absolutely 
  23. no impairment of mental acuity or       
  24. alertness, only the physiological       
  25. interface with the external world. Some 
  26. access to the outside may be maintained 
  27. by direct neural hookup into the Network
  28. (established 2044).
